Our Story

Taqueria La Tapatia has been a fixture on US-181 in San Antonio, serving as three businesses in one: a full-service Mexican restaurant, a fresh meat market, and a panadería with a bakery case full of pan dulce and made-to-order cakes. Under one roof, our cooks turn the same meat you'd buy by the pound into sizzling fajitas, carne asada plates, and street tacos griddled to order.

The kitchen opens at 6 AM for breakfast plates and closes at 11 PM after the dinner rush, with a rotating lineup of daily soups — menudo, tortilla soup, and caldo de res, pollo, or camarón, plus pozole on the weekend. Lunch specials and taco deals keep regulars coming back through the week.

One thing our guests notice again and again: the food comes out fast without cutting corners on flavor. As one longtime regular put it, this is "a spot we frequent" precisely because the daily specials are a good deal and the kitchen doesn't make you wait.
